G’day, my name is Sasha. I’m a licensed beekeeper on the NSW Central Coast and I love to talk about my bees and my honey.
3rd generation beekeeper
Starting with my grandfather, beekeeping has been a tradition in my family. My uncle produces 15 tons of honey from his 400 beehives.
In 2004, I bought a hobby farm in Ourimbah. My uncle came with my father from overseas to visit us. When he saw our pristine farm surrounded by natural bushland, he told me I could make an income out of this land if I put 100 hives on top of the hill. He invited me to his farm in Kazakhstan to teach me his skills.
But I was busy running my plastering business so in 2005 I signed up at TAFE in Sydney for their beekeeping course, run by the renowned apiarist Bruce White for students from all over Australia. The 2-day course was packed with information.
I went back to my farm and experimented with bees but this raised a lot of questions so I went back to TAFE in 2006 to get some answers from Bruce who was glad to see me back.
A few years later when computer technology improved, I was able to communicate with my uncle overseas. Over video calls, he demonstrated his skills and also watch me practice. This was a turning point in my new apiarist career. And now I'm teaching my son and a few friends how to keep bees.
Straight from the hive to the jar
Sasha’s Wild Honey is pure raw honey. Our bees feed naturally around our farm. The honey is then extracted directly into the jars. It is pure without additives. It’s extracted cold to preserve its health benefits.
